ways of seeing

In the "Ways of Seeing" video with John Berger, the camera was being personified. I found this interesting because the camera is what is usually not seen because it is the object that is being used to capture whatever a person puts in front of it. The video talked about the motions that the camera makes while a person is capturing a photo. The camera is constantly moving because the photographer wants to capture unique pictures from angles and of views that are aesthetically pleasing to their eye. It is crazy how images can travel from one place to another due to one machine, a camera. This fact is very common, but also very overlooked.

Today, one could simply take a picture on their phone and send it to someone else within 10 seconds. It is a way of communication that now feels very new after watching the video. Taking pictures allows others to see, at an exact angle, what you are seeing as well. This use of the camera has not changed ever since. The camera is art in and of itself. This piece of art is able to lead many other people to create in order to capture moments in their lives and other people's lives.

Pictures can now even been edited. Editing pictures can also change our perspectives on how we view images. The way the picture is edited can also sway the audience to feel a certain way when they see the image or video. For example, one picture could be ended to make it look dark with cool tints. The same picture could also be ended with high exposure with warm tints. The same image could bring about different perspectives and interpretations from the audience.
